Mindful Living Course

hindu-god-mindful-livingLife is pretty challenging at times, and it’s hard to find balance in our imbalanced world. My longtime practice of yoga and mindfulness have brought me enormous rewards and allowed me to navigate some pretty rough waters, and to emerge stronger and lighter from each challenge.

I love sharing what I have learned over the years. The Mindful Living course has been offered since 2014, and is modeled on the format of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn. The heart-centred teaching approach is influenced by my long-time teacher, the Vietnamese Buddhist Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.

This course gives you a chance to explore yourself and your life more fully with a group of like-minded people. It’s an invitation to move towards greater balance, peace and participation in life through a more conscious awareness of our attitudes, feelings and impulses. Our sessions may involve working with stress, burnout, pain, illness and the many other challenges and demands of everyday life, according to the needs of the group.

The more deeply you participate, both in and out of the course, the more you will experience the benefits of mindfulness: improved wellbeing, more resilience to life’s ups and downs, a better ability to cope with pain and illness and a more authentic relationship to your life and those around you.

I gained deeper insight into matters that mean a lot to me, such as my relation to my past and present self, relatives and friends, and to the others around me. I discovered new tools for exploring myself and the world by living with greater awareness. I am more considerate of other people’s feelings and points of view.  What I appreciate about Susan’s course is her astuteness of mind, her eloquence, the exhaustive topics she covers, and her attentiveness to our individual concerns. ~ D.B., Brussels

You will be introduced to a variety of simple meditation and movement practices designed to cultivate presence and awareness. Formal practices include sitting meditation, body awareness, and gentle yoga, as well as group discussions and  informal exercises on various topics.

A regular home practice is an integral part of this course, so be prepared to find 30-45 minutes each day, at least 6 days per week – you will be so glad you did!

The sessions are ecumenical, and appropriate for people of all ages and backgrounds, including those coping with stress, chronic pain and illness, mild depression, anxiety and panic disorders, sleep disturbances, digestive problems, fatigue, heart trouble, high blood pressure and headaches. Mindfulness empowers us as individuals and also supports and benefits the work of teachers, therapists, and other caregivers.

Susan’s mindfulness courses cover all you need to know about mindfulness and experience it. The course has a meaningful structure. Every session has a different topic and is filled with inspirations, exercises and examples. A powerful and great mixture of getting to know mindfulness and experiencing a mindful state of mind. ~ P.B., Cologne
